It's surprising how hard it is to write a miniature version of your life story.
I suppose the best place is to start is from the beginning. Some time in July
1981, I was born in Alameda County, California to my loving parents, Aziz and Dilu.
A few years later, my sister Amira was born. She is the bugfixed version of me ;-)
I spent my entire childhood in Fremont, California
which is located right next to the heart of (in)famous Silicon Valley.
Ever since my father brought home our first family computer, a 286 PC with an amazing
5 million bytes of disk storage, computer technology has been my passion. My parents
worked hard to send me to Harker School and
Menlo High School which were places that
nurtured my devotion to computer technology. My parents also helped me quite a bit
by allowing me to purchase so many new gadgets and components for me to tinker with.
I spent a lot of time in elementary and high school taking programming classes,
playing games, and exploring the Internet. My whole world really opened up when I
first went on the Internet around late 1993. Even though I had done a lot of
modem-surfing before this, I spent so much time on the Internet learning a billion
new things, that I didn't even spend enough time studying other things in my
late elementary and high school years.
After I graduated from high school, I decided to continue my education at
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI)
over in Troy, NY. It was hard giving up the Bay Area life and going away from my
family and friends that I grew up with. Even though it has been hard living
on my own, I have been successful academically and have made a lot of new friends.
I will be graduating in May 2003 with a B.S. degree dual majoring in Computer Science
and Computer & Systems Engineering. I will even have an Economics minor!
As for the future, it looks like I will likely be staying out on the east coast,
perhaps in Manhattan even! Once I start my new job in August, I will post more details!
